During the Monaco Grand Prix, Vijay Mallya, owner of the Force India team, has moored his 95-metre yacht, Indian Empress, offshore, determined to enjoy himself in the best traditions — and in spite of him losing his billionaire status in the recession.
“Glamour and sport go hand-in-hand and it’s no more obvious than in Monaco,” he said. “Monaco is a race that is so famous that almost everybody wants to come to it.”

MY "Pari" grounded near Saint Jean Cap Ferrat

The 39m MY "Pari" broke her lines yesterday and grounded near Saint Jean Cap Ferrat.
The French tug "Abeille Flandre" will try to tow the yacht that is currently grounded on the rocks.
According to the French authorities, no crew member were injured.
The engine room has been flooded and there are 3 holes in the hull.
Specialists must pump out 20,000L of fuel.
The 39m motor yacht was built by Alucraft in Turkey and fitted out by Cantieri Navali Argentario in Italy.
The exterior of Pari was designed by Vincenzo Ruggiero and famous architect Espen Oeino redesigned the yacht.

In November 2006 Kerimov lost control of the Ferrari Enzo he was driving in Nice, France, and crashed into a tree.


According to a recent article published on Reuters UK website, "Russia's billionaire oligarchs have (so far) avoided losing their luxury investments such as property, yachts and soccer clubs despite seeing their collective wealth plunge by $378 billion over the past year."

Cannes Super yacht Cup Cancelled

Bad news !
According to the french newspaper Nice-Matin, the Cannes Superyacht Cup open to sailboat measuring 30m and larger has been cancelled at the last moment. From May 28 to 31, up to 25 sailing superyachts were expected to participate...in the first SYC
The Palm Beach Casino, broker Camper & Nicholson and Aston Martin Cannes were among the official sponsors of the race.

Cannes Film Festival: a superyacht festival II ?

Although it is just the beginning of the charter season, the Cannes Film Festival brought together many superyachts and big cruise ship.

This photo of the Baie de Cannes was taken today: cruise ship, superyacht, italian motoryacht, sailboat, chase boat are all at anchor and it is just the same near the Lerins islands and the Cap d'Antibes with MY Virginian, MY Enigma, MY Fortunate Star, MY Siren, MY Meamina and so many others...
