New Tax on Yacht in Italy: more information

The ISYBA has published the detail of the new yacht tax in Italy.

Article 16 - Provisions for the taxation of luxury cars,boats and airplane2. From 1 May 2012, the pleasure craft, in italian ports or water, surf or are anchored in public waters, even if in concession to private, are subject to the payment of Annual parking fee, calculated for each day or fraction it, the following measures:
a) 5 euros for units with a hull length of 10.01 meters to 12 meters;b) 8 euros for units with a hull length of 12.01 meters to 14 meters;c) 10 euros for units with a hull length from 14.01 to 17 meters;d) 30 euros for units with a hull length of 17.01 meters a24;e) 90 euros for units with a hull length from 24.01 to 34 meters;f) 207 euros for units with a hull length from 34.01 to 44 meters;g) 372 euros for units with a hull length from 44.01 to 54 meters;h) 521 euros for units with a hull length from 54.01 to 64 meters;i) 703 euros for units with a hull length greater than 64 meters.
3. The fee is reduced by half for units with a hull length up to 12 meters, used exclusively by the resident owners, as their ordinary means of locomotion, in the municipalities located insmaller islands in the Lagoon of Venice, as well as units in paragraph 2 to sail with auxiliary engine.
4. The tax does not apply to units owned or used by the State and other public bodies, to the mandatory saving, the dinghies, provided that they bear an indication of the unit pleasure to which they are placed, and the units mentioned in the paragraph 2 that are in an area of ​​storage and for days effective stay in storage.

New Tax on Yacht in Italy

Italy's new government has adopted a package of emergency austerity measures aimed at fending off bankruptcy and saving the euro from collapse

Taxes on the assets - yacht and luxury cars - of the wealthy will go up. Owners of yachts will have to pay a tax based on the length of their craft. The plans must still be approved by the Italian parliament.

Inspections continue in Med, detention of Haida G

According to the Triton "Port State Control inspections continue in the Mediterranean, including one on a yacht laid up for the winter in a shipyard, which received at least 13 deficiencies and was detained."

“The detention of Haida G is of particular significance because, at the time of the inspection, the yacht was laid up for the winter and out of commission,” the briefing states. “Nobody had imagined, until that inspection, that PSC inspections would take place in such circumstances.”added the PYA briefing notes.

Sunseeker 40m sold at Dubai International Boat Show

According to Arabian Business: "Dubai International Boat Show has recorded its biggest sale of the event so far with a 40 metre Sunseeker superyacht fetching AED100 million.

Exhibitors across the board have reported good sales with smaller boats, mid-range and superyachts all selling well in the first three days of the event, organisers said in a statement on Friday."

Son of African President Obiang to buy £233m yacht

Rumors or news ?
The yacht consulting company Kusch Yachts had been asked to build a 390ft vessel in a secret project codenamed Zen. The owner is Teodorin Obian, son of African President Obiang.

The planned delivery date is 2012, but construction has not yet started. The superyacht will include a cinema, restaurant, bar and swimming pool.

The Daily Mail on line reported that "Obiang, 41, is the son of Equatorial Guinea’s president Teodoro Obiang, who took power in a bloody 1979 coup and is reportedly grooming his son to succeed him."

The yacht will be auctioned on behalf of Grant Thornton UK LLP - the Joint Liquidators of Madoff Securities Intenrational Ltd.

Yacht tax for the Chinese owner too ?

People's Daily Online reported that Owners of yachts - a luxury that is gaining popularity among China's newly rich - will have to pay an annual vessel tax based on the length of their craft if a draft law is passed by the top legislature.

Liu Dianfang, chairman of the yacht industry association in Xiamen, in East China's Fujian province, estimated there are 300 luxury yachts in China that each has a value of 3 million yuan or more.

Ben Ali's nephew yacht theft

According to the French newspaper Nice Matin, Moaez and Imed Trabelsi, ordered the theft of three yachts in France (French Riviera and Corsica) in 2005.
A french captain who helped to sail the yachts to Tunisia was jailed for several months, but Ben Ali's nephews have never been prosecuted...

Berezosky's yachts seized in France

French authorities have impounded two yachts believed to belong to fugitive Russian billionaire Boris Berezovsky, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office said on Thursday.
