CRN shipyard to open a new office in Monaco
The CRN shipyard, part of the Ferretti Group, opened a new sales and marketing office in Monaco at the end of June. The ex "YCO SAM" company changed name and became "CRN FERRETTI GROUP MONACO S.A.M."
Monaco, the recognised capital of the superyacht industry with prestigious clients and brokerage companies, is the perfect hub to reinforce the presence and the image of the brand.
The CRN shipyard, founded in Ancona in 1963 and part of the Ferretti group since 1999, has been one of the principal world builders of luxury yachts in steel and aluminium.
A new office in the yachting capital for CRN, a new Benetti after-sales service: many Italian shipyards try to get closer to their clients to develop a consistent flow of business and have a better market analysis.
Is it a new challenge for the traditional brokerage company?

2008 Worst Superyacht Shipyard Website
And the winner is...Lurssen shipyard
Graphically, many pages look like a Flash tutorial with poor GUI and 8-bit music of the 80's.
Is Lurssen website totally bad? Not really...however, it needs a serious makeover to reflect the high quality of the yachts.

Dave Adams, a North Palm Beach entrepreneur, is setting up yacht building venture (Tricon shipyard) in China with former client and investor Christos Livadas.
According to the Palm Beach Post, "Tricon's key advantage is low-cost labor. By building in China, Livadas estimates, Tricon's labor costs will be about 30 percent less than Taiwanese yards and more than 60 percent less than American and European yards"...

Taiwan and China: about 100 orders on the books this year
Marco Polo, Ron Holland design built by China-based shipyard Cheoy Lee
Price around 16,650,000 euros
According to the Herald Tribune "Asian yacht-builders offer prices that average about a third less in Taiwan and up to half as much in China compared with boats built in the West. But low prices sometimes come with lower quality, especially from China, and less individuality, according to industry analysts."

Is there a market for the Super Dino ?
Thunder B - OCEANFAST - 1998
Despite a very original Bannenberg design and her breathtaking performances for her size (she is able to reach a top speed of 36 knts thanks to her TF40 turbine and her twin screw 3,000BHP diesel engines), Thunder B is still on the market today. Edmiston company had already the yacht for sale in September 2005 at 23,500,00 euros...

2005: 23,500,000 euros
2007: 18,900,000 euros
2008: 16,750,000 euros
